I have extensive experience within both the forensic and clinical setting of working with people who have experienced psychological trauma. I understand how difficult it is to speak with a therapist about personal problems and I offer a place of healing led by warmth, acceptance, openness and no judgement.
I am a Chartered Psychologist, registered to practice as a forensic and clinical psychologist with membership of the following organisations:
My principle areas of interest are in offender risk assessment and management (including violent and sexual offenders), interventions for offending behaviour (development and supervision), personality disorders, and the treatment of mental health problems and trauma, including PTSD, sexual/physical abuse, anxiety, depression and attachment disorders. I also supervise those wishing to gain chartered status with the British Psychological Society.
I provide individually tailored treatment packages using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Comprehensive Resource Modelling. Both CBT and EMDR are recognised as the treatments of choice for a number of emotional disorders and trauma by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines.
I am a recognised psychotherapist and psychologist with the following insurance companies: Axa, BUPA, Cigna, Medisure, Western Provident Association, Norwich Union, and Standard Life.
